Restoring health with biomedical nutrition
Each of us is unique. And so are our bodies.
For over 10 years working as a holistic and biomedical nutritionist, I have been amazed at the immense power of the dietary and lifestyle choices we make every day to revolutionize health. In my work with children with autism, ASD, PDD and ADHD, as well as adults with chronic fatigue, digestive problems and more, I continue to witness the amazing power of food as medicine. And as the years go by, scientific research continues to support of the key role of our food choices in the development of, and recovery from the common chronic conditions of today.
My nutritional approach is based upon the biomedical protocol developed by the Autism Research Institute (formerly known as the Defeat Autism Now or DAN! protocol) which is based upon the premise that autism is treatable. This individualized, holistic approach aims to re-balance the body’s biochemistry, and address symptoms of developmental delay by resolving the underlying imbalances. These often include: intestinal dysbiosis, impaired detoxification pathways, nutrient deficiencies, and food allergies and sensitivities. With the help of specialized testing (including stool, urine and blood tests), as well as special diets such as the gluten, casein and soy free diet, among others, and high quality nutritional supplements, I have seen that this approach is an integral piece of the journey towards recovery.
In my practice, I help to guide individuals as well as families of children with autism and other special needs, on their journey towards health and wellness in pursuit of most optimal quality of life. Most importantly, in working with families and individuals I always aim to meet the individual or family at where they are and at their own pace and comfort level, which I have found leads to the best results long term.
